Amazing Grace

June 29th, 2010 . by admin

The popular hymn “Amazing Grace” has a melody set to the notes of the major pentatonic scale, and is sung by many different churches. When I was younger, I used to play this hymn all the time on the keyboard.  I did not know about this scale until I decided to learn more about “Amazing Grace.”  I had to do some research on the history of this song for a college class, and found a great deal of other information as well.  When I looked into the major pentatonic scale more, I found out this scale is written as C,D,E,G,A,C.  These five pitches all can be put into one octave.
